A standard page contains 1800 characters with spaces. The price for translation of one A4 page is determined based on the number of characters. In this way, we are able to deliver an exact quotation before we start working on your order.

What is a standard billing page?

A standard billing page is a unit accepted by a translation agency to price texts for translation. Usually, we provide quotations based on the source text (original) rather than the target text (translated text).

What is the price of express delivery translation?

The price of express delivery translation depends on the deadline, length of the text and its subject, or additional services ordered by the Client. Therefore, we provide quotations for each express delivery translation on the case-by-case basis.

How much do you charge for delivery of the translation?

The final product is usually sent free of charge by e-mail. At the Client’s request, we can also send the translation in paper. This service is priced individually, depending on the volume of your translation project.

Does the cost of an interpreting service include travel, board and accommodation for an interpreter?

If the company ordering an interpreting service does not provide travel, board, and accommodation, such costs are added to the service price.

Do you have a translation price list available?

Yes. The translation price list is an integral part of a business cooperation agreement that we conclude with our Clients, and we always inform you about the price of the translation before we start working on your project. Each order is priced individually, based on our price list, the number of words in the source document, the language combination, and other aspects. To receive a free quotation, simply send us your documents.

How can I order a translation service?

You can send us your file(s) via our online form or by e-mail to get a free quotation, and then accept the cost of the service that we have provided.

What is the difference between certified translation and standard translation?

Certified translations are handled by a sworn translator who certifies for compliance of the translation with the original document with their stamp and signature. Standard translations, even if they comply with the same high quality standards, are handled by professional translators without sworn translator qualifications.

Which documents require sworn translation?

Certified or sworn translation is usually required for documents and certificates which are to submitted to Polish and foreign authorities or law enforcement agencies. It may also be needed in the case of medical documentation or contracts and agreements. Before sending a document to a translation agency, it is always a good idea to check what kind of translation will be needed.

How much will I pay for your translation service?

As a rule, translation is priced based on the number of words in the source document. Individual rates per word depend on the language combination, the number of words in the source document, and other specific aspects of the job (including delivery date, file format(s) or additional services). Please send us your documents, and we will provide you with a free quotation. Please remember that a free quotation is not a binding commitment to work with us.

Do your service prices include VAT?

We state our prices in net and gross amounts, i.e. as VAT exclusive and VAT inclusive amounts.

How can I count the number of words in a source document myself?

If you have a Microsoft Word document (.doc or.docx), you can use the “Word count” option. In the case of documents in other formats, such as.jpg,.html,.php,.asp, or scanned documents, please send them by e-mail for a free quotation.

When will my order be ready?

We will agree on the delivery date before we start working on your text. In principle, translating 8 standard pages (i.e. pages of 250 words) takes one full working day. We can also ensure an express delivery service on separately agreed conditions.

What format does my source document have to be in?

Electronic format is a preferred one, but we can handle documents in all formats. Thanks to our DTP Department services, including the OCR service, we can handle files in virtually any format, including non-editable documents.

Are there any texts that you will not translate?

In fact, no. As we work with a wide network of professionals, we can handle even the most unusual projects, including localisation projects – always in compliance with specific instructions provided by the client or settings dictated by software.

Can you translate my website?

We would love to! Skrivanek has vast experience and theoretical and practical knowledge in translating and localising all types of websites and content management systems. We always look for the most suitable solutions for your language combination and target market.

I have already had my website translated, but I do not have enough language skills to evaluate the translation. Can you help me with this?

If you have your website translated already, whatever its language version is, we can review it, give our honest opinion and, if necessary, provide a proofreading service. We can take care of both the source text and the version translated by other suppliers. We never criticise others without a justified reason, but when we do, it is because we are committed to linguistic quality and our client satisfaction.

Do you provide services to corporate clients only?

No. Although most of our translation requests come from corporate clients, we are happy to work with individual clients as well. In this case, sworn translations are the most popular service. Language courses are also a frequent choice among non-business clients.

Is every translator an interpreter and the other way round?

Not necessarily. Some of our language experts successfully combine both skills, but the majority focus on one or the other type of work, providing different types of interpreting services (such as consecutive or simultaneous interpreting) or translating documents.

Formatting of my document is essential. Can you preserve it in the translation?

Whenever possible, we work with original documents in electronic format, without making any changes to their formatting. However, when necessary, we can guarantee that the translation of the client’s document looks just like the original document owing to our “advanced plus” DTP service.

Can you guarantee for the quality of your translations?

Of course. We are certified according to ISO 9001, EN 17100 and ISO 27001. We also have professional liability insurance. We are strictly committed to confidentiality, and take full responsibility for everything we do: the highest quality of processes and timely delivery of any project, regardless of its volume or complexity.

How many hours a day can an interpreter work?

It depends on a situation and client needs. We always agree all details on the case-by-case basis.

How is text adaptation different from standard translation?

In the case of marketing or advertising texts, translation is just the beginning. Such content usually requires adaptation and localisation to make it easily and directly accessible and understandable to the target audience. In other words, the translation must deliver the same message and have the same desired impact.

Is my translation handled by the same person I am communicating with to order the service?

No. Client communication and job handling are the responsibilities of our client service staff and project managers. Over the entire process, they act as intermediaries between all those involved in the chain. It should be added that with a wide network of professionals that we cooperate with we can handle translation and interpreting jobs in over 100 languages!

What type of services does Skrivanek provide?

We provide a great variety of language solutions: translation and interpreting services, localisation services, text adaptation and proofreading, copywriting, DTP services, language courses and language audits. As part of our individual business segments, we can offer our clients a truly broad range of language solutions. For example, interpreting during conferences and business meetings or court interpreting, general business and industry-specific translations, standard and certified translations, and many more.

Can I choose the same translator/interpreter that I have worked with before?

Of course. If you inform us that you would like your future assignments to be handled by the same translator or interpreter, we will be happy to comply with your request. Not infrequently, having the quality assurance in mind, we create such dedicated teams of language professionals for our business partners on our own initiative. To provide the best business experience, for our regular clients, we appoint dedicated project managers who take care of all of their projects.

What are translation tools?

Translation support tools (known as Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) software) are, as the name suggests, tools intended to facilitate the translation process. CAT software provides technological support for human translation. It makes it possible to save time and money and ensure a consistent use of terminology. As the translation memory database is constantly expanded, there is no need to translate identical text fragments from scratch, which proves particularly useful in the case of repetitive financial, technical and medical texts, as well as in website and software localisation.

Do you do accept large volume projects?

Yes. We can handle any project, regardless of its volume. We agree on delivery dates and methods on the case-by-case basis.

How long does it take to translate large projects or long texts?

In the case of large projects, we always try to meet the Client’s expectations. Depending on the processes required (translation, DTP processing, proofreading, etc.) and the expected deadline, we are able to set up a dedicated team of translators, DTP professionals and proofreaders who will handle your order. In this way, we are able to guarantee short turnaround times.

Do you offer machine translations?

Yes. We currently offer machine translations in the following language combinations:
– from Polish: to English, German, and Russian;
– from English: to Polish, Russian, German, Czech, Dutch, Danish, and Swedish;
– from German: to Polish and English;
– from French: to English;
– from Czech: to Polish and English.

We can also offer NMT in other language combinations, depending on your needs.

What is the difference between Skrivanek NMT machine translation and Google Translate?

Skrivanek NMT is a proprietary tool that we have created to take care of security of our Clients’ data and high quality of translations. Skrivanek NMT is based on a number of industry-specific machine translation models that we select depending on the translation subject. In the translation process, we do not use online tools or send Client data to commercial servers.

How is my order managed?

Once we accept your order and enter it into our system, a project manager plans all the processes required and transfers documents to appropriate vendors involved in the chain (DTP specialists, translators, proofreaders, reviewers, etc.), coordinating all steps until the very end. The final product is usually sent to the client by e-mail.

How will you deliver my translation?

Standard translations are delivered in electronic format, identical to that of the source file (as a Word, Excel, PowerPoint or PDF document or in any other native format). If necessary, we encrypt or password-protect your files before sending. Certified translations are delivered in electronic format, but a personal collection option is also available.

Can I order an express delivery service?

Apart from standard delivery, we also offer an express delivery service option. All details are agreed on the case-by-case basis. However, please remember that a shorter deadline means less time for individual processes. What will perfectly suffice for an internal company text is not necessarily recommended in the case of texts for publication, requiring multiple checks and finishing touches. Nevertheless, we always try to deliver your text as soon as possible.

What information should I provide with an order?

We do value all information: on any terminology you use or on the purpose and target audience of the translation. Is the text meant for publication or company use only? It is supposed to convey a marketing or advertising message? Or maybe it is a scholar text? Our work can be facilitated with all background knowledge or reference materials on your product, service or sector.

Can my order be late?

As in any industry, delays can happen, but we do our best to provide services on time. Reasons for delays may include bad quality of source documents (illegible scanned copies or handwritten documents), technical issues, or the necessity to find vendors for an unusual language combination. Please remember, however, that delays are an exceptional situation, and we always try to agree a reasonable delivery date with the client.

How do you keep my data and information secure?

We never share your documents, information or data with any persons or entities outside Skrivanek. We always follow the “need to know” rule. Your documents are only made available to those who need such access to handle the order. We sign confidentiality agreements with all our vendors. We also strictly comply with the provisions of the GDPR.
