SHOULD YOU USE A FREE ESTONIAN-ENGLISH TRANSLATOR?

In general, the answer is no. While machine translation can be a vital help in various translation projects, if you want your translated text to be fully accurate and natural, you need to translate more than just Estonian words. The essence of every good translation lies in understanding both the source and the target language (e.g., English), as well as the translated text and its purpose. Our experts rely on advanced technologies when conducting translation projects, but they also use their knowledge and real-life experience. That’s what makes our work surpass machine translation.

Who speaks Estonian?

Estonian belongs to the group of the Baltic-Finnic languages constituting part of the Ural-Altaic language family. Slightly over one million people speak this language in the world. We may communicate in it only in Estonia.

History of the Estonian language

For a relatively long time, Estonia remained under the influence of other countries, including Denmark and Germany. Therefore, the Estonian language was born in difficult circumstances. First documents written in this language come from around the 13th century. In 1525, the first book was written in Estonian. In the 17th century, the contemporary literary language was created. Estonian became the official language only at the time when Estonia gained its independence. Writing in this language spread in the 19th century.

Estonian in business

Estonian plays a role in business only within business cooperation with Estonia. Since Estonian is not practically used outside this country and Estonia does not play a significant economic role in the international arena, the knowledge of this language will not be of great usefulness in business activities.
