How do you teach a robot to speak with a human voice? At Skrivanek, we know the answer to this question! We became aware of it when a customer from Slovenia approached us with a request to record over 500 phrases in the field of banking and finance. They were intended to train an automated banking system to recognise the voice of a potential customer and respond appropriately to the expressed needs.
The client required voice samples from five people differing in terms of age and gender to provide the programme with a full spectrum of voice tones. He also instructed us to carry out the task using an application of their choice and provided us with detailed guidelines. Each of the phrases was to be recorded on a separate audio track, and the audio file had to include gaps of silence lasting at least 0.5 seconds. We were also given precise information regarding the format and frequency at which the sound should be recorded.
Upon finalising the details with the customer, we immediately got to work. We selected a group of five speakers, three women and two men, aged 20-40 years, who agreed to participate in the project. Each speaker was provided with the client-specified software and all the necessary guidelines contained in a fairly extensive file that our providers had to familiarise themselves with before starting the process.
The project was carried out in two stages. First, each speaker recorded half of the phrases, which we exported and sent back to the customer awaiting feedback. It was very important to us that the customer had insight into the project at every stage and had the opportunity to provide us with their comments. After listening to the recordings, the customer sent us feedback, giving us the green light to continue with the project.
While recording the second batch of phrases, our providers felt much more confident, reassured that what they were doing was fulfilling the customer’s needs. We returned the second part to the client within the deadline, just as we did with the first part, thus completing all the assignment other than the feedback. We were delighted to receive a message that the customer was satisfied with the recordings, as they met his expectations.
Skrivanek is by no means afraid of technology – on the contrary, we not only use it in our work but also help support its development in sectors important to each of us through our services. We do this in a personalised manner, remaining open to the customer’s needs, even when they are non-standard and require going beyond established patterns and procedures. Learning new software, adapting to a list of detailed guidelines, finding a group of suppliers to meet specific demands – we will do everything to meet your expectations!
If you need voice recordings, both professional and amateur, Skrivanek will successfully execute such a project. Thanks to our services, we are able to not only connect vast numbers of people with each other but also connect them with technology. We work with our voices to help bring the world you desire within your reach.
