The year 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of our Nobel Prize winner, Wisława Szymborska. To celebrate this event one of our youth clothing companies, together with the Wisława Szymborska Foundation, has prepared a unique collection of clothing inspired by Wisława’s poetry. The theme of this special collection was the poem Nothing Twice, one of the most well-known and recognisable works by this Nobel Prize winner. The clothing and accessories feature excerpts from Wisława Szymborska’s work, designed by the company’s graphic designers.
What was Skrivanek’s role?
In the advertisement, recorded in Polish, we can hear selected verses of the poem. Our task, assigned by the advertising agency, was to prepare a transcription of the advert, including time codes, followed by a translation into English, Czech and Slovak in the form of subtitles. The challenge here was to match the correct lines of the poem in these three language versions in such a way that they were consistent with the message of the poem and, at the same time, the advertisement. Our specialists coped extremely well with this task, and created suitable versions of the ad in the three languages ordered by the customer. While watching the advert, we can now choose the subtitles in the desired language.
With our help, poetry is being given a new life, proving that the message of our Nobel Prize winner is still relevant and universal. Taking part in the preparation of this modern form of poetry communication was a very interesting experience for us.
